The concert will begin at 7:00 PM. All band students will need to report at 6:30 for attendance and to warm up. The 7th grade band will play first, with the 8th grade band in the audience. Then they will trade places and the 8th grade band will perform with the 7th graders in the audience. I am also tentatively planning on having each group sight-read a brand new piece on stage to show you how that part of band festival will work. Students are expected to stay to support each other for the full concert, which should take an hour or less. If there will be any issue with your student attending this concert, please let me know immediately. We require two weeks notice for any excused absence from a concert (in a non-emergency situation).
All band students should wear their full concert uniform - white button-down shirt, black pants, black socks, black shoes, and their school bow-tie and cummerbund. They should also wear any band medals they may have earned up to this point. We are also taking donations of black shoes for use by any student who may need them. If getting proper shoes or any other uniform item presents a financial problem, please let me know ASAP so we can arrange to help. No middle school kid wants to stand out by looking different up on a stage in front of their peers and an audience. Thanks for your help with this matter!
Also, FYI, both bands will play at Festival on Wednesday, February 26, during the school day at Hastings High School. Parents are welcome to attend, and we will be looking for 5-10 parents to come along as chaperones that day. More details to come!
Looking forward to a great PreFestival Concert! See you on February 10!
